While UK campervan and motorhome enthusiasts look forward to the start of spring and the opportunities of travel it promises, a leading German motorhome manufacturer has allowed the public a few tantalising glimpses of a new model being prepared for the 2013 season.
Dethleffs, based in Isny im Allgäu in south-eastern Baden-Württemberg, Germany, have released the first photographs of their new concept A class motorhome, the Evan. The vehicle is surprisingly small for an A Class motor caravan measuring just over 18 feet long and less than seven feet wide. However, there is no doubting it is fully functional. Despite its length it still offers two double fixed beds and six seats. The vehicle offers entrance from the side and rear in a format of two ultra wide conversion doors.
The design team looks to have come up with a winner and many prospective buyers will not be disappointed with overall measurements of the vehicle as it will make for easier manoeuvring in some of the more remote parts of the UK.
Michael Studer, who headed up the design team, said “We wanted to create a motorhome that was compact, flexible and ideal for daily use. I’ve been following the idea for some time and now it is time for a new vehicle concept. A flexible, compact one which combines the advantages of various motorhomes.”
So what exactly will you get with the new Evan? Well it has an extremely flexible interior which allows the furniture and bathroom to be reorganised to allow the cabin to carry long and bulky items when needed. Two passengers up front and four single seats behind is the standard set up but the seats can be altered lengthways and crossways if required. There are four sleeping berths, a kitchen with a sink, fridge, two mobile gas cartridge cookers and a long worktop. The interior also has under floor heating when required. Outside the bi-coloured design and 18” alloy wheels give the Evan a sleek and lengthy look. As stated above, prospective buyers will have to wait until 2013 to get a motorhome insurance quote on what is bound to be one of the stars of next year’s motorhome shows.
