The UK has been gripped with sport since the Olympics, but one sport more than any other has seen a quite remarkable turnaround. Cycling was once a specialist sport which required odd clothing and long Sundays, or was simply a way of getting around. Now however, cycling is attracting more new participants than any other sport in the UK. As more riders have become involved with the sport and are having a go on their local roads, long-term cyclists have been looking to travel and take on new terrain whether in the UK or abroad. The perfect complement to this is, undoubtedly, the motorhome!
A motorhome offers exactly the kind of flexibility that cyclists look for when taking trips away. It’s perfect for moving between different campsites, meaning that cyclists can access various roads on different days. Plenty of fans also follow big races in motorhomes, such as the Tour de France, and try to get a look in at as many different stages as possible along the route.
Motorhomes also offer great storage potential and whilst larger motorhomes can fit three or four bikes in the back easily, even smaller vehicles are able to be fitted with racks that make moving bikes around very easy. Though cyclists are advised to always check their motorhome insurance policies before travelling with bikes, the value of most contents cover packages will easily make their motorhomes a safe, secure place to leave their bikes.
As the summer gets closer we’re likely to see sales of accessories like motorhome specific bike racks increasing, and we might well see a number of cyclists taking the plunge and deciding to buy a new motorhome to go along with their bikes. Motorhomes and bikes certainly make a great pair and we hope that the cycling buzz surrounding the UK is translated into more demand for quality motorhomes.
